Meet the Turtle Team!

Hannah Satein

Hi! My name is Hannah Satein. I am currently a junior at the University of Oregon, studying environmental policy.  I am really excited about helping the BLM learn more about the western pond turtle through this project and ready to go see some turtles!

I am a junior at the University of Oregon, majoring in Environmental Studies and Geography. I am intersted in species conservation and excited to be working together with the BLM, contributing in the conservation of the western pond turtles. I am also a beginning birder and so will be keeping an eye open for birds while we monitor for the western pond turtles. I am an avid downhill skier and the above picture is of a cross-country ski trip that I took on near Willamette Pass.

Hey I'm Briana O'Loughlin from Tigard, OR. I am a Junior working on a major in Environmental Studies, and I just completed my minor in Business Administration. I'm thrilled to get hands-on experience monitoring the western pond turtle and hope our results will help the BLM conserve this amazing species.

I am currently a junior at the University of Oregon and I am a Biology major and an Environmental Studies minor.  I am passionate about endangered species conservation, so I am very excited to be working with the BLM to monitor western pond turtles in the West Eugene Wetlands.

Austin Himes

I am planning to graduate from the University of Oregon with a degree in Environmental Science in June. I hope to apply my education to a career in land restoration and working with the West Eugene Wetlands Project is preparing me for that.

Kevin Belanger

Hi, I'm Kevin, the Project Manager for the Turtle Team. I am a master's student in Environmental Studies and Community and Regional Planning. I'm from Maryland, where I had never heard about Western Pond Turtles, and it is a thrill to get to learn about them and see them in their natural habitat. My team is great, and I appreciate all their hard work.
